adidas Men's Powerlift Trainer Cross Training Shoe Reviews
8 of 9 people found the following review helpful I pick things up, and put them down, By John Pozatron "JP" (Allentown, PA USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: adidas Men's Powerlift Trainer Cross Training Shoe (Apparel) Want to get fit? Improve cardiovascular endurance, increase strength? Pick up heavy things.I don't know how I squatted, cleaned, snatched, or did any other power/olympic weightlifting moves without these shoes. They have a solid sole-feel and a firm heel, keeping you seriously grounded and stable when you pick up heavy things. I wouldn't use them for a competition, though - I've seen denser heels. But for training these are totally legit, and the price is right. And just in case you forget what these are used for, there's a tiny barbell on the velcro strap, and the word 'weightlifting' is printed on the side - way to go Adidas, thanks for the reminder! 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful Great lifting shoes, By Mark Davis (Bellevue, WA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: adidas Men's Powerlift Trainer Cross Training Shoe (Apparel) I've been lifting in a pair of Safes for powerlifting for the last few years. They were solid shoes, but they were wearing out, and I wasn't too keen on picking up replacements for $190. I'd been looking at the Adistars as well, but similarly, they were expensive and hard to find. Then, I was browsing Adidas' website, and came across these. They looked like just what I needed. Picked up a pair and tried them out - I love them. Definitely a better fit than the Safes. I feel very well supported in my squats, and way more supported at the transition point than I did in the Safes. I've seen some people complain that the heel isn't stiff enough for powerlifting - it hasn't been a problem for me. Perhaps not quite as hard as the block of wood in the Adistars, but I definitely have not been having a problem with the shoes feeling soft or losing any stability for that reason. Definitely recommended, especially for the price. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Good for crossfit and such, but not for olympic lifting., This review is from: adidas Men's Powerlift Trainer Cross Training Shoe (Apparel) These shoes are comfortable, stylish, and pretty functional. I would recommend them for anybody looking to expand their powerlifting. However, they aren't quite suited for olympic weightlifting for two main reasons. First, the heel height could and should be a little higher (most oly lifters use 3/4-inch). This helps with keeping the knees low and avoiding "sitting" too low in the bottom of the squat. Second, while the heels are fine for starting and amateur lifting, if you intend to compete at any level you should go with the wooden heel wedge. As a high-school weightlifter (250-260 lb. C&J), I'm already having problems with slight flexion . Not much, but enough to make a difference. Also, if you feel the back of the heel after just a little heavy use, there is an unmistakable crease in the material. Overall, a very good shoe, but if you really want to get into olympic lifts, go with something a little sturdier like the adistar or pendlay do-wins. |
